Solar Bones voted #3 on The Irish Times Best Irish Book of The 21st Century

Mike McCormack’s Solar Bones has been voted in the top three Books of The 21st Century by The Irish Times.

Told in a single sentence the book is described as ‘beautifully constructed, profound yet accessible, haunting and elegiac’.
Published in 2016 in Ireland by Tramp Press and in the UK by Canongate Books Solar Bones was Winner Of ‘The International Dublin Literary Award’ 2018, Winner Of ‘The Goldsmiths Prize’ 2016, Winner Of The Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book Awards Novel Of The Year and Longlisted For ‘The Man Booker Prize’ 2017
The Irish Times panel was made up of 60 experts - authors, critics, academics, festival curators, booksellers and journalists who selected their favourite Irish novels and short story collections of the years 2000-2025
Also making the Best Irish Book of The 21st Century list are Liz Nugent who features twice on with Unravelling Oliver (2014) and Strange Sally Diamond (2023)
Kevin Power also features twice with White City (2021) and Bad Day in Blackrock (2008)
Elsewhere Patrick McCabe’s Winterwood (2006) makes the list at #63, Big Girl, Small Town (2020) by Michelle Gallen at #98, Snowflake (2021) by Louise Nealon at #96, and This Hostel Life (2018) by Melatu Uche Okorie at #97
